The University of Strathclyde Research Day, Thursday 7th June 2012
Venue: The Barony
Time: There is a buffet lunch from 12.30 to 1.30, with the event opening at 1.30pm.

Now in its 6th consecutive year, Research Day is a one-day event celebrating Strathclyde's research achievements as well as providing an opportunity for the interdisciplinary sharing of good practice in research, and a vehicle for promoting effective collaboration.

The aims of the Research Day are to:

    * celebrate the quality of research across all faculties of the University
    * enable staff and students to meet and learn about the research carried out at the University
    * enable networking with invited guests from industry, funding bodies and other organisations

There will be presentations from research staff and students (a range of formats will be available), a Dragons' Den style event for funding staff research projects and a free café.

Prizes will be awarded to each of the top postgraduate student presentations, and to the staff teams with the best research ideas presented in the Dragon's Den style event. All prizes will be presented by the Principal at the end of the day.

Subject: judges for URD 7th June

Dear All,

As you are probably aware the University of Strathclyde Research Day is on the 7th June 2012.

One of the components of the day is the poster competition which is judged on the morning of the event.

I need more judges for this part of the day and, as you can see from the attached list, we could do with some more from the Science faculty and indeed some depts have no representation at all.

Could I possible ask you to circulate this request for judges to your dept colleagues and ask them to contact Michele Zagnoni (copied in) should they be available and willing to do so.  Apart from helping the science faculty presenters get a fair judgement it is a good way to find out what research is going on around the university..............oh and an excellent free lunch is provided !
