Dear Head of the Department,

I am organising a *conference for Recent Appointees in Materials Science 
(RAMS)* in September 2012 (5^th -7^th ) to be held at University of 
Strathclyde, Glasgow. RAMS is an organisation which exists to support 
researchers in the UK in the early stages of their career, typically 
within five years of appointment as PDRA or lecturer in the area of 
materials science, engineering and applications. RAMS conferences have 
seen great success in past years with attendees from academia and industry.

This year's event will also have several *plenary talks* from 
distinguished scientists. Furthermore, we have an entire *session 
dedicated to training *aspects that are of exceptional value to early 
career researcher. For details, see the attachment and visit the website 
at http://www.rams-materials.org/.

Please forward the attached event flyer to suitable candidates from your 
department and encourage them to participate by submitting an abstract. 
*Abstract submission closes on 31^st July* and there are limited 
*bursaries* available for speakers to cover their accommodation and 
registration costs.
