The days of the lone supervisor working with their PhD student in isolation are long gone.  Most PhD projects now involve collaboration between laboratories, between institutions or between countries.  The increased variety of models of doctoral education bring new challenges in supervisory teams, assessment procedures, funding, mobility and quality assurance of the doctoral process.  This workshop, which will be of particular interest to academic and administrative staff involved in the governance of doctoral programmes, will look at a range of topical issues including the regulatory framework, funding bodies, administration and obstacles and opportunities.
