This year, the University of Strathclyde Research Day (URD) has a new format which will be based around the theme of public engagement, with a particular focus on schools engagement. During the morning/early afternoon session nine primary schools will visit the University and take part in nine themed 'Meet the Researcher' exhibits.  As always, there will be the Dragons' Den style event, which forms part of University Research Day<http://www.strath.ac.uk/researchday/>, providing the opportunity for Strathclyde academic and researcher staff to pitch their excellent research and knowledge exchange ideas to a panel of 'Dragons'. The event aims to bring together cross-disciplinary research groups to deliver a funding pitch to a panel of Dragons consisting of senior University staff, academics and external partners. The University, through the Bridging the Gap<http://www.strath.ac.uk/btg/> initiative, will provide £20,000 of funding for the most promising proposal(s). Application forms are available to download from the R&KE<https://moss.strath.ac.uk/research/resportal/fundingadvice/funding/btg/default.aspx> Portal<https://moss.strath.ac.uk/research/resportal/fundingadvice/funding/btg/default.aspx>. Applications should be submitted by email<mailto:btg at strath.ac.uk> by 5.00pm on Monday 15 April. Full details of the funding criteria are available on the Research Day webpages.

The event celebrates Strathclyde's research achievements and provides an opportunity for sharing good practice between disciplines, while promoting effective collaboration.   Come along, participate and learn about the public engagement and current research being conducted at the University and many more opportunities for researcher staff and students to get involved. URD is part of the Glasgow Science Festival.
