Subject: Invitation to Participate in NERC TPoC Panel
Dear Professor Duxbury
I am writing on behalf of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) to invite you to be a member of the NERC Technologies Proof of Concept (TPoC) Panel to assess the applications submitted to the recent closing date. The meeting will be held in Swindon on Tuesday 26th November 2013. I anticipate that the meeting will start at 9.30am and may last until 5pm.
The Technologies Proof of Concept programme is a NERC research programme that will support the development of new and innovative technologies for environmental science. The programme initially ran from 2008-2012. NERC has now launched a second five-year phase of the programme (2014-2018). The programme will provide funding for proof of concept projects at Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 1 to 4. More information about the Announcement of Opportunity can be found at http://www.nerc.ac.uk/research/programmes/technologypoc/events/ao2013.asp
These proposals have not been sent out for peer review, so the Assessment Panel’s role will be to grade and rank the proposals and to make recommendations for funding. Due to the large number of submissions we are forming two panels with separate membership and meeting on separate days, with each looking at different science areas and considering about half the proposals.
It would be helpful if you could let me know as soon as possible and by Friday 25th October at the latest if you are able to accept this invitation.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes,
Amy
