Dear Colleagues,
At rather short notice, for which I apologise, there will be a presentation from Dr Allan Baxter, Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst (ex VP GSK and Alumni of the University) on Wednesday 14th May, 2014 at 10.00 h in HW111-114. Dr Baxter is bringing the CEO, Martino Picardo, who will give this more general presentation on SBC, followed by Q&A.
SBC is concerned with 'convergence', which fits well with our profile. Below, I copy some words from Martino about his perspective on growing a relationship with Strathclyde.
Ellie
This is a particularly critical time-frame for SBC as we are currently planning for Phase 2 development of our Campus and wish to build relationships (such as with Strathclyde) accordingly with those that fit strategically with our vision and mission to help "catalyse innovation across the UK".
We have a particular interest in Convergence and associated technologies (a definition being "wrapping ICT, electronics and engineering solutions around biological problems'). Knowing that there is considerable activity in this area at Strathclyde, this was one of the main reasons for wishing to visit and engage. I have attached a single slide that outlines our general interest in this area.
