Hi

Two meetings ago there was an action on me to find out information about the asset register.

Apologies for the delay in providing this information but I have struggled to find a policy or something that might be useful.

Annette has kindly steered me in the right direction and information can be found at http://www.strath.ac.uk/finance/financialservices/ram/
However I have copied the information below for your information. Specific questions should be directed to Annette or me and we can request this from Finance.
"Asset Register

A new University Asset Management System (supplied by Real Asset Management) was implemented in November 2012 and all departments now have the ability to record their assets on the Inventory Management module of the system.

The Real Asset Management system allows staff to maintain a centralised record of the assets under their control, ensuring that insurance and audit requirements are fulfilled as well as providing a flexible way to manage and report on their own assets.

The University's financial regulations<http://www.strath.ac.uk/finance/generalinformation/regulationsandpolicies/> stipulate that departments must maintain (on the central system) a record of the following assets:

  * Items with a cost of at least £5,000.
  * Personal computers, regardless of the value.
  * Items which are vulnerable to misappropriation, regardless of value.

However, departments can also use the system to manage any assets in addition to the minimum required by the university.

Examples of the detailed information which the RAM system can hold are:

  *   Descriptions, codes, etc
  *   Transfer (to another building/person)
  * Disposed of (sold, lost, etc)
  *   Condition of the inventory
  * Maintenance plans eg PAT testing
  *   Purchase Costs.

Support and advice is also is available from the Financial Systems Administrators (Exts. 4806 / 4766; email to financial-systems at strath.ac.uk<mailto:financial-systems at strath.ac.uk>)"

Additional excess information which might be of help is as follows:

Computer Equipment has an excess of £500.

The main material damage policy has an excess of £50K.

Thanks

Kirsten
