Copies will be available in every examination pack within the exam rooms delivered over the course of the next 2 weeks but I ask your assistance in sending this out to your invigilators so that they have an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the new University Policy on the Invigilation of Examinations if they have not already done so.

The main responsibilities of the invigilators are as follows:


-          Arrive at the exam room at least 20 minutes before the start of the exam and ensure that if they are unable to attend the exam, that an appropriate substitute is appointed and briefed.

-          Take receipt of the exam papers and make a final check of the paper before it is distributed to the students.

-          Assist in supervising students' entry into the exam room and keep a register of candidates attending each exam.

-          Make the Invigilator Announcements at the start and end of the exam.

-          Distribute exam materials to candidates and ensure the security of the materials at all times.

-          Supervise the exam for the duration of the scheduled time and communicate any problems/incidents/emergencies to the invigilator in charge of the exam.

-          Collect the answer book(s) from each candidate in attendance.

-          Arrange the secure delivery of candidates' work to the relevant department/school or appropriate internal examiner.
