Dear All,
Please see the attached call for nominations for the Philip Leverhulme Prizes in Physics. These are prizes (£100k) aimed at helping younger researchers (10 years from PhD with allowance for career breaks). As far as I can see potential candidates nominate themselves and need a supporting statement from me. While there is no quota for nominations I would like to be very selective in this process and only submit really strong cases. If you would like to be considered or if you would like to suggest someone for nomination please read the information carefully and let me know by the end of this month. We will then make a decision on who goes forward from the Department and there is plenty of time to work up good cases.
Best wishes
Erling

Subject: Philip Leverhulme Prizes in Physics
Dear Professor Riis,
Please accept my apologies for my previous email sent in error.
The Leverhulme Trust provides funding for research projects, fellowships, studentships, bursaries and prizes; it operates across all the academic disciplines, the ambition being to support talented individuals as they realise their personal vision in research and professional training.
I'm writing to you as I would very much like to alert you to the fact that the Trust is currently inviting nominations for Philip Leverhulme Prizes in Physics (this includes Astronomy and Astrophysics). The Philip Leverhulme Prizes recognise the achievement of early career researchers whose work has already attracted international recognition and whose future career is exceptionally promising. In 2015 up to 30 Prizes of £100,000 each will be awarded to winners across six subject areas, including Physics. The Prizes can be used for any purpose which advances the prize-holder's research, with the exception of enhancing the prize-holder's salary. The closing date for the submission of nominations is 14 May 2015 at 4pm.
Would it be possible to ask for your help in making colleagues who you feel might benefit aware of this funding opportunity? Please find attached a copy of the nomination guidance, which provides some further details about the Prizes. Further information is also available from our website<http://www.leverhulme.ac.uk/funding/PLP/PLP.cfm>, but please don't hesitate to contact me should you have any queries.
Many thanks for your help.
With best wishes,
Bridget Kerr
