Dear All,

As part of the allocation procedure for this year's departmental Tranche 1 and Tranche 2 studentships we are at the stage of finally allocating the remaining studentships.

As we have been in a strong position this year, we have more applications than studentships so this will now be done competitively at a meeting on the 2nd April. If you have a student who is interested in working with you, has an UK or EU citizenship and has not received any indication of funding or partial support from us then now is the time to put their name forward for consideration (I am expecting three or four names that I know of already but there will doubtless be others).

Please send me the student's name by Friday 27th March. I will expect that a Pegasus application is present on the system (preferably at conditional offer accepted though this is not absolutely necessary at this stage) with a CV, transcript and references either attached or filed with Audrey. I would also like you to indicate where your contribution to an EPSRC DTP or University studentship (~£2k pa) will be coming from and if you have any other support that you can contribute to a studentship. Just as a reminder, if references are not uploaded it is the responsibility of the supervisor to obtain these.

I would also like to remind you that this is not the final possibility for funding as the process is complex and there are various mechanisms by which we will obtain or free-up allocated studentships and the University will run Tranche 3 competitions for good students later in the year

Any questions, please let me know.

Best wishes,
Neil
