Colleagues,

Following concerns expressed in respect of the seating configuration in the Royal College Assembly Hall  (RC/471), I write to remind departments that the standard furniture configuration for this room is with desks laid out in parallel lines facing the teaching wall. This is illustrated in the online Learning Services room description resource below;

Similarly, the University Centre (UC/201) standard furniture configuration is also with desks laid out in parallel lines facing the teaching wall. Again, illustrated in the online Learning Services room description resource below;

The reason behind the current seating arrangement in these rooms is to accommodate the requirements of the majority of teaching activity allocated and also allows for the class test activity which take place in both locations throughout teaching weeks.

If there is a requirement for the seating arrangements to be altered, it is the responsibility of those making the change to return the furniture to its original configuration.

I'd appreciate if this communication could be disseminated to staff making use of the rooms.

I recognise that that this is not ideal, however, given the dual usage of the rooms and limitations in support resource, this approach should minimise disruption to the majority of those making use of RC/471 &  UC/201 for both teaching and class tests.
