What can academics do to advance disability equality?
= Are you an academic involved in determining what skills and knowledge students need to gain while studying?
= Do you want to be confident that the standards you set for your courses are compliant with disability legislation?
= Do you want tips on ensuring students are able to fully demonstrate their ability?
We are running a series of webinars for academics to support you in developing learning outcomes or competence standards that are non-discriminatory and inclusive for disabled students.
Each webinar will cover:
= how course arrangements can potentially disadvantage disabled students, and why learning outcomes and competence standards are so important
= what steps can be taken to ensure learning outcomes and competence standards are genuine and meet related legal responsibilities
= how to think about assessment so that learning outcomes and competence standards are thoroughly tested so students are not disadvantaged
The webinars will be interactive, with opportunities throughout for questions and discussion. You will have the opportunity to learn from guidance recently released by ECU.
Dates
To ensure examples and discussion are relevant, the webinar will be run four times with a focus on different subject clusters.
