[Academic] FW: John Mather Charitable Trust Rising Star award - funding opportunity

Dear All,

I invite expressions of interest for applications to the John Mather Charitable Trust Rising Star Award. This scheme seeks to support high quality students at PG or UG level in an activity that will advance their personal or professional development. The University has been invited to submit a single nomination and, if successful, the student will receive £10k in funding.

We have been invited to  nominate one candidate from our department at either UG or PG level. We need to provide a brief statement (no more than one A4 sheet) as to why they should be considered and what the money would be used for. The deadline is short so:

At this stage I would like expressions of interest to me by email by close of play tomorrow. You need
1) an academically excellent student that you would like to nominate
2) a plan to use the money.

I'm happy to provide further details to those interested but please note that the scope is deliberately broad and vague.
