[Academic] Research Audit Outputs

Dear All,

It is the time of year when you should be proposing new outputs for the
Research Audit. As usual you do this via the tab on your Pure page. Some
guidance.

Last year too many people just submitted stuff that they though might
possibly get rated 3*. This created a lot of wasted work for your
colleagues and most of these outputs were not rated highly. With the
likely changes to the REF in 2020 resulting in a reduction of the number
of submitted outputs it is probable that in the final submission we will
not even submit some of our 3* work. Therefore can I ask you all to
propose only any unproposed outputs published since January 2014 that
you are /certain/ are at least 3*. We can deal with others that might be
3* or above nearer the REF deadline when the picture will be clearer.
Please try to get this done before the holiday period to give us time to
review the outputs in time for the audit.

Feel free to contact me, particularly newer members of staff, if you do
not have a reasonably clear picture of what to do, or of what a 2*/3*/4*
output looks like.

Best Regards
John
