Dear Staff

As you may be aware, nominations are currently open for Student Elections, including the Faculty Rep positions. I would be grateful if you could disseminate the following information to your departmental staff and students. The nomination period closes at noon on 24 February, following which there will be information sessions for candidates and a campaigning period. The voting is held from 7-9 March. We want as many students as possible to participate and would appreciate any support in promoting the election generally and specifically the Faculty Rep positions due to the importance of the role.

Please do not hesitate to contact myself or Andy Ashe if you have any questions regarding the Faculty Rep position or the nomination and election process.

Kind regards
Andi

Dear Students

Nominations are currently open for Student Elections, with a number of full time and voluntary part time positions up for grabs .We would like to bring your attention to the Faculty Rep positions, and encourage all students to consider running. The nomination period closes at noon on Friday the 24th February, following which there will be information sessions for candidates and a campaigning period. The voting is held from Tuesday 7th-Thursday 9th March.

Please find information on the role below with further information on the Union website<http://www.strathstudents.com/studentreps/facultyreps>, and nominate yourself on our Elections site<http://www.strathelections.com/nominate-now/>.

What is a Faculty Rep?
Faculty Reps are the voice of students at a Faculty level, they represent students' views and interests at Faculty wide meetings and committees. They will be engaged and involved in USSA education campaigns and are critical in feeding back developments to students and the Students' Association. They provide an essential link between class Reps and the Vice President Education.

Faculty Reps are effective communicators, who can engage students and class reps, representing their views to University staff.
Initiative is key, as the post requires proactive engagement with class reps and students, creating innovative solutions to the problems students report in the Faculty. It is not essential to have previous experience as a class representative, representing students at Student Staff liaison committees, but would be beneficial. The position would suit someone with an interest in new dynamic ideas for improving education, and a passion to change the learning experience for all students in the faculty.

What skills will I gain?
Being a Faculty Rep is not only amazing for the CV, it also gives you the ability to have a major influence on the learning and teaching not just within your course and department but throughout the whole faculty. You will work closely with Deans and Vice-Deans of the faculty as well as the President and Vice Presidents of the Students' Association in representing other students' views. It is great for improving your advanced communication, negotiation and diplomacy skills, and your ability to take on multiple perspectives and work collaboratively with both students and staff for an effective solution.

Sounds good, how do I put myself forward?
