[Academic] ANNOUNCEMENT: External Examiner Lunches

Dear All,

The external examiners will visit on the 8th March, primarily to have lunch with our 
graduating students in L4 and L5. We have never resisted any L4 MPhys student 
who wished to attend even if they are not expecting to finish this year, and I am 
keen to encourage a good turn out so I propose we continue to allow this slightly 
wider definition of the invitation list.

Can you please announce to your students in L4 and L5 classes via Myplace and 
in class that they are invited to join the external examiners for lunch (use 
the free lunch as an incentive!) on Wednesday the 8th March, from 1230-1400 
(the end time is 'soft' here, until about 1430, so students arriving at 1400 would 
still have an opportunity to participate in a discussion). The opportunity for 
completing students to meet the external examiners is a vital part of the IoP 
accreditation of our degrees.

The meeting will take place in K8-11.

Please ask students to contact Audrey by e-mail (Audrey.McKinnon at strath.ac.uk to 
verify their intention to attend so we can arrange for catering, by Thursday 2nd).

>From my review of the timetables this should allow all students 
to participate for at least an hour without disturbing any of the classes. There is one class that 
finishes at 1300, however I assume the students on that class can join at 1300.

For the avoidance of doubt we academics are NOT invited to this lunch.
