Dear Sir or Madam,
The Autism Research Centre, University of Cambridge, is currently running a study that is looking at the genetic links between mathematical ability and autism. As part of this study we wish to invite students and academics of mathematics, physics, computer science, and engineering, who have a diagnosis of an autism spectrum condition to take part in this exciting new study and we would very much appreciate it if you could forward the advert below from Professor Simon Baron-Cohen to all the staff and students in your department.
Thank you for your support and help to advance our understanding of mathematical ability and autism. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you require any further information, either by phone on +44 (0) 1223 746052 or email atmaths at medschl.cam.ac.uk<mailto:maths at medschl.cam.ac.uk>.
Many thanks for your consideration
Clara Buckingham
Research Assistant
On behalf of Professor Simon Baron-Cohen

Help Us to Understand Mathematical Ability
I am contacting you to invite you to a new study that looks at the genetics associated with mathematical ability and whether there may be a link with autism. All participants will be entered into a prize draw where you have the opportunity to win 1 of 5 £200 gift vouchers.
We welcome all adults (over 16 years old) WITH a diagnosis of an autism spectrum condition who are pursuing or have completed a degree in mathematics, physics, computer science, or engineering to take part in our study.
If you would like to help our research please visit our website: https://maths.autismresearchcentre.net<https://maths.autismresearchcentre.net/>.
All we will require from you is a saliva sample (using a kit sent and returned by post) and for you to answer some web-based questions.
For additional information you can email the team, Clara Buckingham and Dr Christopher Smith, atmaths at medschl.cam.ac.uk<mailto:maths at medschl.cam.ac.uk>.
Thank you very much for considering my request.
Professor Simon Baron-Cohen
