I am contacting you on behalf of Medical Research Scotland to make you aware that applications are now open for the Medical Research Scotland PhD Studentship Awards, tenable from Autumn 2018 [please see www.medicalresearchscotland.org.uk/apply.htm<http://www.medicalresearchscotland.org.uk/apply.htm>].

The information below is included on the attached pdf which I hope you'll be able and willing to circulate widely among those parts of your university carrying out research relevant to the aims of Medical Research Scotland, i.e. related to the ultimate improvement of human health, to draw this funding opportunity to the attention of those who might be interested in making an application.   Please note, funding is not restricted to the biological sciences; projects in other disciplines (eg physical, engineering and mathematical sciences) which address a medically relevant question are eligible.

SUPPORTING THE NEXT GENERATION

Applications are now invited from Scottish Universities, in conjunction with trading companies involved in medically-relevant life sciences research, for the Medical Research Scotland PhD Studentship Awards, tenable from autumn 2018.

Ø    Up to 15, fully-funded 4-year PhD studentships, tenable from autumn 2018
Ø    Including stipend, UK/EU fees & contributions to laboratory & travel expenses
Ø    To be delivered in a Scottish University/Recognised Research Institution

The aim of these awards is to enhance the careers of scientists at an early
 stage of their career in health-related research in any of the biomedical,
physical, clinical, engineering and mathematical sciences.  Complementing the universities’ own postgraduate programmes, the Medical Research Scotland PhD Studentships incorporate the additional commercial training needed to develop careers in an increasingly difficult and competitive market, while also helping to strengthen the country’s internationally-renowned biomedical research base.

Applications Close: NOON on 11 July 2017
