To All Academic and Research Staff,

The first draft of the marking allocations for the 4th year projects are attached. You should check your allocation as either Supervisor, Independent Marker, or Chair. You can sort each column to make it easier, or else use the search function.

Notes:

1. Official Viva Period is 30/4 to 11/5 (weeks 3&4 of the exam period). There may be leeway to conduct vivas outside this period subject to agreement of those involved and approval.

2. Students are to be allowed sufficient time around the viva to take into account their other exams. This generally means at least one day in between their final written exam and viva.

3. As there are many projects this year, the average number of projects to be marked per academic/senior researcher is around 5 and this has been spread around quite evenly.

4. Some people may be marking projects outside their main area or in a different Division, this is necessary for load balancing. Students have been instructed to write their reports at a level suitable for non-specialists.

5. There is flexibility in the schedule and I will trust that viva Chairs will be able to employ their judgement when considering any scheduling issues.

I intend on putting viva dates to the projects on the second draft in the next few days before release to the students before the Spring Break. If there are any serious issues with dates, please let me know.

Daniel.
