To 4th Year Undergraduate Project Supervisors,

Just a few housekeeping matters:

- Literature Review. Hopefully will have gone through this with your students by now. Please give feedback on the format (e.g. was it as instructed, structure, required sections, length), style (e.g. appropriate level suitable for a general physics audience, referencing correct, use of diagrams), and whether they have a good grasp of what the project is about and will entail. They should incorporate this feedback into their final report.

- Safety Forms. John Gillan will be chasing up on outstanding or incomplete safety induction record forms. For reference, I have placed an example of a filled-out S17P form on the PH450 MyPlace area. Apologies for the outdated form that was on MyPlace, the one in the Appendix of the Project Booklet is the most current version.

- Progress Report. Students are to submit a progress report (template on MyPlace) due 9th January 2019. A paper and PDF version are to be handed in (JA8.31 and MyPlace respectively). Please remind students that they are expected to continue working on the project between the start of exams and the start of Semester II. By now, students should be working hard on their projects. If you have concerns about their engagement, please let me know so that problems can be addressed early.

- Talks. An early heads up on talks to be conducted on the 13th and 20th February 2019 between ~1300-1700. I shall be compiling the schedule early in the New Year. If you have any availability restrictions, please let me know early so that it can be taken into account. Also, I'll ask for volunteers to chair talk sessions.

More generally, make sure that students are aware of the information contained in the project booklet on all aspects of PH450, in particular the timetable with due dates as well as the Appendix (forms, guidance etc.).

Daniel
PH450 Project Co-ordinator.
