Dear All,
I have uploaded the class test results for PH181, PH182, PH183 & PH184
to the PDA-FirstYear/2018-19 folder on the i-drive.
Please note that the tests for PH181/2 were out of 10 and those for
PH183/4 were out of 7. For each course, the class test
counts for 10% of the students' final mark. The fortnightly MCQ tests
contribute 20% and the two homework sessions a further
10%. The final exam will be worth 60%. The students will have access to
all 1st semester marks via Myplace by Tuesday lunchtime.
I would like all 1st year students to have a short meeting with their
Personal Development Adviser to discuss their progress
and any issues they may be having. Could you please contact the students
that you have been assigned and arrange to meet with
them as soon as possible. The students are generally free at 9am & 11am
on Tuesdays & Fridays, at 1pm every day, and from 2pm
on Wednesdays & Fridays. You can see your allocated PDA students & their
e-mail addresses on the results document on the i-drive.
I will ask the students to complete pg. 4 of their PDA form (they can
download this from the PH185 Myplace class) and bring it to the
meeting. They should submit their completed forms via PH185.
I have attached a leaflet about how to help distressed students and
there is some information on the various sources of support
available below:
Physics Society Drop-in Sessions: Fridays in GH5.64 & GH5.65

If any of your PDA students do not turn up, or if you will be unable to
meet with your PDA students within the next week or so, please
let me know. Thank you very much for your continuing support with this.
Best regards,
Alison
