Dear all,
As part of the EPSRC Tier-2 HPC call we are currently bidding for an extension of ARCHIE from 2,500 cores to over 13,000 cores with two dozen of GPUs. We made it through to the interview stage and are now in the process of fireproofing our bid.
A key aspect of our application is to open up HPC to first-time users. This will be delivered through a ’train the trainers’ approach, i.e. we will first train a core group of HPC and software trainers, who then roll out the training to new ARCHIE users, hence leading to a self-sustained HPC training facility at our institution. The training scope comprises the usual HPC/AI frameworks, e.g. MPI and distributed memory parallelisation, OpenMP and shared memory parallelisation, CUDA C and GPU programming, TensorFlow and TPU programming, etc pp.
If anyone from Physics would be willing (or at least interested in principle) to attend training courses of this kind, could you please let me know so that we have some numbers and names for the interview at the end of the month.
Best regards and many thanks,
Oliver
PS: A similar request has been posted in CIS. So this activity could also offer opportunities to work with computer scientists and extend your local network.
