Heads of Department, please circulate amongst your PhD supervising staff to encourage students to submit & awareness of the event for staff attend and support all presenting researchers

We have had a fantastic response to our initial calls for abstract but some people needed a bit more time so to make the event as good as we know it can and will be we've extended the deadline

Not only that but we are delighted to announce one of our Keynote Speakers:

Dr Harri Valpola PhD, expert in Machine Learning, Theoretical Neuroscience, and Cognitive Robotics. CEO and co-founder of the Curious AI Company<https://thecuriousaicompany.com/>.

Watch his Ted Talk here<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUApSRMWxqo>

Remember, this year the DSMS will be hosting an extensive career fair over the lunch break. Considering the multidisciplinary nature of the conference, we will be looking to attract companies who recruit from a variety of subjects and research areas. Company representatives will also be invited to join attendees at the post-conference wine reception where networking can continue, and awards for the best conference poster presentation and three-minute thesis speaker will be announced!
All doctoral students are encouraged to submit<https://strathbusiness.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_1z6BPcFr97mtrNP> a 300 - 500 words abstract via the online abstract submission system<https://strathbusiness.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_1z6BPcFr97mtrNP> in one of the following themes:

  * Enabling a more prosperous and sustainable society
  * Driving technology and creating future solutions
  * Empowering connectivity and increasing global awareness

These themes have been chosen to reflect the University mission statement, the UN sustainable development goals, and reflect all aspects of research undertaken by the university.

Even if you can't immediately see where your research would fit in we urge you to read the explanatory text on the website or contact us directly to discuss.

If a 10-12 minute presentation is not your thing or you are earlier on in your doctorate then perhaps try your hand at the world famous Three Minute Thesis competition. 1 slide and 3 minutes to tell us about your research - how hard can it be??! Anyone interested in 3MT(r) can sign up for training at https://bookings.strath.ac.uk/Home/Course/1170 or register their interest via researcher.development at strath.ac.uk<mailto:researcher.development at strath.ac.uk>
