[Academic] Library Science subscriptions review

The Library will have the annual review of the subscriptions portfolio to decide titles to cancel and potential new titles.

The attached document 'science subscriptions analysis 2019-2020.xlsx' contains statistics and analysis, including lists of i) all subscriptions in the Faculty portfolio with analysis of usage – see the 2019 tab , ii) possible cancellations,  iii) new subscription recommendations received from the Faculty. New subscriptions need to be funded from the existing allocation which means identifying suitable existing resources for cancellation.

The possible cancellations are the high cost per use titles that can be cancelled. They may appear on this list because we have not had statistics and  we have reviewed some of these in previous years and decided to continue with the subscription.

Also included in the spreadsheet is the review of print journals that was carried out last year to look at the usage of these and help identify any that we could possibly cancel. The Library appreciates that there may be titles that are required to be kept in print for accreditation purposes, and it would be helpful to flag these for the future.

The Library continues to welcome recommendations for new subscriptions. Recommendations for consideration in this year’s review (2020) should be submitted to the Library no later than 31st July 2020.
