Dear All,

We have been asked to provide an update to Faculty on our preparations for teaching in the new academic year. We are mainly doing this using the "traffics light" spreadsheet that you can access here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Er75ChMAvf5P2ExYsDD8qO70pcZqmyko6RsArTmTj2I/edit#gid=789197955

If you have not already done so, please can you add the information for your class(es) as soon as possible. Please can you also update this with any changes (for example, resits now having taken place), as the document needs to be sent to Faculty by the end of the day.

As part of our report, we have also been asked if we have any questions about teaching in the new academic year that we would like raised in university level groups. To remind you, the first 2-3 weeks of learning and teaching will be presented predominantly online. We will then transition to blended learning mode of delivery with arrangements made depending upon priorities, discipline, level of study and course requirements. This may include a combination of face-to-face teaching, group working, project supervision and appropriate lab work, online sessions/workshops, tutorials and on-campus learning activities. The timetable will be the same as usual.

To help address any questions you may have, please could you let me know if you are struggling with, or would like more information on, any of the following, just identify by number from the list below. I will feed your concerns back to the Faculty:

1) Recording lecture segments
2) Obtaining accurate transcripts
3) Adding subtitles
4) Making "breakout" material for between lectures segments
5) Creating Myplace assessments
6) How to run online tutorials
7) How to timetable blended learning (eg. how to split classes for f2f teaching)
8) What happens is students/staff have to self-isolate
9) Lack of available training in (please add)

Many of these are based on my own experiences over the last few weeks so please let me know if I have missed things. I am unlikely to be able to reply to everyone individually, but I will collate the information and pass it on. Sorry for the short notice, but I have to return this by the end of today.

Best regards,

Alison
