Dear All,
A few people have reported a significant a drop in quality when uploading their videos to Myplace using eStream.
Unfortunately it is not obvious from the Myplace helppage (https://support.myplace.strath.ac.uk/display/MS/Uploading+and+Embedding+a+video+file+using+eStream) but please tick the 'Copy Only' box so that eStream does not re-encode the video.
Note that there may also be some issues with Zoom video quality due to compression issues when the content is streamed from the presenter to Zoom. If you find this is a problem, recording your lectures with voiceover PowerPoint should result in higher quality videos. It doesn't automatically create a transcript or subtitles, but you can get both of these by playing your recorded presentation through zoom (remember to share your computer audio). You can then download the audio transcript that is produced (file.vtt) for use in eStream. I know this is a bit of a faff, but it may also suit those who prefer to record slides one or two at a time rather than all in one go.
For info, a new version of zoom was released a few days ago that has some more advanced audio/video filters but also lets you use your PowerPoint or Keynote presentations as a virtual background, with your video overlayed: https://blog.zoom.us/filters-reactions-lighting-features-zoom-meetings-2/
Best regards,
Alison
