Subject: Covid-19 Research
Dear all,
I've been asked to gather together any details of Covid-19 research being conducted by Science staff for the Dean to mention at the Faculty Forum tomorrow. So far, I have these:
* Dr Kieren Egan, Computer & Information Sciences, for an acceptability, feasibility and usability study of a trusted home-based exercise application to support the health of family carers during the COVID-19 crisis
* Prof Colin Suckling, Dr Fraser Scott and Prof Iain Hunter, Pure & Applied Chemistry, received a grant from the Chief Scientist's Office Scotland to evaluate repurposing of Strathclyde Minor Groove Binders, a new class of potential treatment for a wide range of infectious diseases, towards the treatment of COVID-19.
* Professor Apala Majumdar, Mathematics & Statistics, in partnership with Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and the Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia, GCRF/SFC COVID-19 Response Grant on "Novel Empirical Models for the Effects of Under-Reporting on the spread of COVID-19 in Indonesia."
Have you the details of anything further? I'd hate for something to be missed out, but there doesn't seem to be a list of all Covid-19 research being conducted at the University, so far as I can see.
Thanks,
Alistair
