Please see below an update on the Library’s preparations for re-opening.  We don’t have a date for re-opening just yet but we will communicate that as soon as we can.  We have staff in the Library now getting everything ready and making all of the necessary changes.



  *   We are aiming to open in advance of the new PGDE cohort starting on 19th August
  *   Click and Collect service<https://www.strath.ac.uk/professionalservices/library/coronavirus/clickandcollectservice/> is up and running and already popular
  *   Freepost return service for books being targeted at specific groups of finishing students at the moment
  *   Plans to use the Strathclyde and/or the gate supplier App for barcode entry/exit to Library
  *   Signage in place for social distancing, keep left on staircases, one person at a time in the book aisles etc.
  *   Hand sanitiser dispensers located throughout the library
  *   Reduced seating/PC capacity:

360 study space only (but some may have a socket)

170 study space with a PC/connection to big screen

GRAND TOTAL: 530 seats (all areas wi-fi enabled)

  *   Perspex at enquiry desks and Library shop
  *   Loan periods adjusted (short loan books now go on loan for 1 week instead of 1 day) and 72 hour quarantine period for all returned books
  *   No food in the Library and vending machines will be switched off  but a small amount of eating space will be available in the café on level 2
  *   Myplace module called Academic Library Skills will be available from the start of the new academic year
  *   Plans for Faculty specific online training/inductions
  *   Working on a Library video to highlight all the new safety measures
