However, we have been informed that not all supervisors and students are aware of the Fund and its provision for paid leave. We are taking steps to ensure that it is more widely publicised, including adding it to the SDS MyPlace page, and having it as a recurring item in the GradNews publication.

We would very much appreciate if you could circulate the information around your Faculties again to ensure all relevant supervisors and students are aware of the Fund should they need to apply.

Subject: PGR Leave Support Fund

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the new PGR Leave Support Fund. This initiative has been established in response to previous disparity identified in leave provisions for doctoral research studentship across the University.

The fund is open to current doctoral research students in receipt of a studentship/scholarship, who do not already receive paid leave support through their studentship/scholarship. UKRI-funded students are only eligible for paid Carers Leave and Shared Parental leave through the fund, as funded periods of leave for other purposes are covered by UKRI funding.

Applications cannot be made retrospectively, unless in cases of medical emergency. Students will be required to enter Voluntary Suspension for the period of paid leave.

We would be grateful if you could please circulate to relevant colleagues in your Faculties.
