Dear All,
Erasmus funding is still available until 31st May 2023, so we may
continue to receive and send students until the very end. However,
things will not be the same as before. In particular, if you
are asked to receive an European trainee, please be aware of the new
visa requirements - see below -
and consult Allison Handley and myself.
Long live the EU and the Erasmus

Subject: Inbound ERASMUS Traineeships - IMPORTANT UPDATE
Date: Fri, 27 Aug 2021 09:50:13 +0100
From: Allison Handley <a.handley at strath.ac.uk>
Dear Colleagues
*_INBOUND ERASMUS TRAINEESHIPS – IMPORTANT UPDATE_**__*
I hope you are well. Following Brexit, please be aware that the visa
requirements for inbound ERASMUS trainees has changed. In future,
depending on the nature and duration of their placement, they may
require a Tier 5 visa sponsored by the British Council which can take
around 6 months to put in place. This must be done in advance of their
arrival.
In view of this, if you are interested in hosting an ERASMUS traineeship
it is important that you contact me first and I’ll seek further guidance
from our admissions/visa compliance team on the type of visa that will
be required, and the process for securing this. *_Please do not agree
to_*_*hosting an ERASMUS traineeship until you have consulted me and
please consult me as early as possible. *_
I would be grateful if you could share this email with any other
colleagues in your department who have hosted ERASMUS traineeships in
the past to flag this issue.
Many thanks.
Allison
