Dear All,
The Disability and Wellbeing Service are running a peer wellbeing support project in which we aim to work with academic departments, Strath Union and student services to support the introduction of new peer support initiatives during the 2021/22 academic year.
The target of these initiatives is to improve student wellbeing and reduce social isolation. Peer support provisions provide platforms in which students can share their experiences to support their fellow peers. Peer support has been shown to create a greater sense of campus community - therefore provides a practical solution to empower students and staff for the challenges that lie ahead.
As part of the initial project, we are seeking input from students and staff to help provide us with insight into peer wellbeing support within your area. We are keen to find out about what already exists, and, how you think peer wellbeing support could be developed.
We have scheduled a number of staff consultation events and are inviting you/ your colleagues to attend. The events will be facilitated by Leanne Lonsdale and Katie Goros, Peer Wellbeing Support Workers.
