Hello,

As per the email below, can you let me know of any software you require for centrally-managed student computing in the next academic year?

Many thanks,

Timothy

Subject: Software for centrally-managed PC labs 2022-23

Summary: If you plan to use centrally managed student computing environments for teaching next academic year, you need to tell us NOW what specialist software you need.

Information Services manage various computing environments which are available to students for timetabled teaching and private study. These include around 1500 desktop PCs in the Library and around the campus.

We are currently preparing for the delivery of central student computing for the academic year 2022/23. As in previous years, we need you to tell us what software you require. You cannot assume that software will be available next year simply because it is there this year.

We get externally audited annually to ensure our devices meet the requirements for Cyber Essentials Plus certification. To maintain this certification we need to justify the software we install each year. For the academic year 2022/23 the standard build will contain the following core software:

Microsoft Office 365 Pro Plus

Adobe Reader

Microsoft Edge Chromium

7-zip

All other software products - even if site-licensed - must be explicitly requested each academic year.

To do so, you should email lab-software at strath.ac.uk<mailto:lab-software at strath.ac.uk> no later than Friday 13th May 2022 with the requirements, including details on where to obtain the media and license keys. To speed up the process we would kindly ask if you could fill out the request form available on IT-Spotlight-

https://strath.sharepoint.com/:w:/r/sites/itspotlightdevices/Shared%20Documents/template_application_request_v03.docx<https://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/ap/w-59584e83/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fstrath.sharepoint.com%2F%3Aw%3A%2Fr%2Fsites%2Fitspotlightdevices%2FShared%2520Documents%2Ftemplate_application_request_v03.docx&data=04%7C01%7Ctimothy.briggs%40strath.ac.uk%7C781fedb39d884140be6408da001b710a%7C631e0763153347eba5cd0457bee5944e%7C0%7C0%7C637822415125630218%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=6euF0uViP32he12easY80%2BNQBmOSNZcMvXY0BKF7ioc%3D&reserved=0>

If you do not have access to IT-Spotlight then lab-software will be able to send you a copy of the form.

Before submitting your request, please ensure that the license agreement permits the usage you require. Trial software does not normally permit deployment for teaching. If you are unsure, please contact the vendor of the software for clarification. If the software you are requesting is licensed, can you please ensure that the license key covers the full duration of the academic year.

All software requested will have the default installation unless requested otherwise.

Thanks,

Bruce.
