Dear all
Please see the email below about prospective applications to ERC, which must go though an internal review and selection process.
Can you please let me know ASAP if you are planning to apply- in particular, for the Starting Grant, Consolidator Grant or Synergy Grant schemes.
This is important as the internal deadline for these is 15th September and they must go through a departmental screen before going to faculty.
Thanks,
Gail

Subject: ERC [DoRs]
Dear Directors of Research,
As the next round of ERC applications has gone live, or will do shortly, we are in a position to apply and the UK Government has promised to support any successful applications in the event of us not joining Horizon Europe.
The University has revised it's procedure for internal review of ERC bids. A key new measure is the establishment of a University panel, with a brief to consider the cases of potential applicants to ERC and decide whether or not proposed projects should proceed to application. Following due Departmental and Faculty screening of potential applicants, cases are submitted via RKES to the Panel. The table below contains the key dates.

The initial cases should be divided into two parts: a summary of up to 2 pages outlining the project and how it meets ERC criteria; and a CV in brief format following the ERC guidelines for CV. Where candidates are to proceed, drafts of section B1 of the ERC application should be sent to the panel for review and comment.
Please can you advise candidates in your department of the arrangements for the referral of cases to the internal panel?
This is particularly important for candidates who have expressed interest in applying to the Starting Grant, Consolidator Grant and Synergy Grant schemes, for which the first internal deadline is fast approaching. Having screened these at department level, please submit the outline summary and CV to me by noon on 15th September for checking and collation at Faculty level. Thanks
Best wishes,
Paul
