Message for Academic Staff, and Research Staff who are PIs

We have received an FOI request from the University Centre which will need information from academic staff.  Please see below.
Please would you send your response to Kirsten by Monday, Tuesday lunchtime at the latest.  We have a deadline of Wed 6th to return this information.

If you are dealing with any other arms trade companies not on the list, please let Kirsten know.

FOI Request 2023/305

Please may I request any relevant information or appearance of arms trade companies in the following capacities in the past five years:

* Company involvement in university departments - i.e. MoD Laboratories, EPSRC centres for doctoral research
* Any consultancy role

Please include:

* May this be broken down by financial year, with the start/end date where applicable
* The name of the arms company involved
* The financial value of the relationship
* The name of the relevant university department
* The name and description of the research being conducted in the studentship

For clarity, in the above request the phrase 'arms trade companies' relates to, but not limited to:

Freedom of Information (FOI) Request Reference - 2023/305

The Information Governance Unit has received a request for information and would be grateful if you could assist in providing a response by 06 October 2023 if possible.

The University is legally required to respond to FOI requests and must do so within a statutory timescale. Please contact the Information Governance Unit as soon as possible if:

  *   You have any difficulties providing a response by the deadline above;
  *   You require further information/clarification of the information requested;
  *   You are aware of another area/department which is better placed to provide the information, or may also hold information.

When providing information, please:

  *   If necessary, ensure that relevant people within your area/department are aware of the information that is being provided for the request.  If this means checking with a Director or Head of Department, please do so before sending information to IGU.
  *   Flag up any concerns about the disclosure of information, so we can discuss this further with you.
  *   Only provide information that is already recorded/held - you do not need to create new information to answer a request.
