Dear all,
The University has made arrangements to cover aspects of health and safety for TEACHING that takes place during the UNITE strikes on the 5th and 6th October.
For staff who are meeting with students or are teaching classes on these days, please announce at the beginning of the class what to do in the event of a fire alarm. If the fire alarm does go off, please guide the students to exit the building.
If there is a first aid emergency, dial (9)999 for serious issues, and contact Security 0141 548 (2222) for anything that does not require an immediate ambulance. Security has a list of trained first aiders in other departments who will be on campus and will dispatch one of these staff to help you. Please note that Physics does not currently have any First Aiders available on the strike days who have been trained within the last 3 years, so we have to rely on those from other departments. (This is due to a lack of training provision by the University and is being rectified.)
We are not aware of any Physics students who require a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP), but if you do identify a Physics student who would not be able to use the stairs in the event of an emergency, please let Jacqui know immediately.
These instructions apply to all buildings where classes are timetabled (on strike days). A separate notification will be sent out in regards to the research.
Please let me know if there are any questions.
Best wishes,
Stefan
