I'm contacting you as you're all members of the Faculty Academic Committee (FAC).

I've been asked (in my role as the Faculty's representative on SOL) to share the following information at the end of this email about embedded MS Stream videos on Myplace or other places (Outlook, Powerpoint, etc.)  Please could you forward this to colleagues in your respective Departments and please note that action must be taken by Friday 14th February 2025.

FAO Staff who have embedded MS Stream videos in Myplace or other locations (such as Outlook email, PowerPoint, or third-party sites)

ACTION REQUIRED by Friday 14th February 2025

As a result of the Classic Stream migration, the automatic redirects on videos that had been migrated to staff members' OneDrive folders and a SharePoint document library that have been embedded on Myplace and in other locations, will stop working and the resulting video will become inaccessible on 15th February 2025, unless the link is updated.

Videos embedded within Myplace
A new tool has been developed that will locate your video in OneDrive/SharePoint and allow you to update and replace the embed code in Myplace. Guidance, including step-by-step instructions, have been provided:

Both will be regularly updated.

Additional guidance for colleagues who embed videos using eStream
As stated in the guidance, to deploy the tool, the default Moodle Text Editor has been switched over from Atto to TinyMCE earlier than initially planned. Consequently, the eStream embed button is not available in TinyMCE, but if you do need this functionality, you can change the Editor back to Atto by changing your Editor Preferences<https://scribehow.com/shared/Change_Editor_Preferences_in_MyPlace__6GflHQrYTESuvOwkE4OpTw> back to Atto.


Videos embedded elsewhere
If Classic Stream videos are embedded elsewhere, for example, Outlook emails, PowerPoint presentations or third-party sites, the embed links will also break on 15th February. How to update these will be dependent on where the video is embedded. The following guidance may be useful for updating in other Microsoft apps or third-party sites:
