Dear CNQO and Photonics colleagues,
We have a number of visitors planned for later this month and in June, and I wanted to let you know, and see if we can coordinate their talks so that we don’t have too much overlap with other planned events. Below are the visitors, the dates they’ll be here, and a short description of their research. Please let me know if there are particular days or times that you would prefer for their talks! There are 2 theorists (Stephan Langer and David Pekker) working with cold atoms, as well as an experimentalist from Dave Snoke’s group (Gangqiang Liu) who has recently realised polariton condensates in a ring trap. When Gangqiang is here, Jonathan Keeling will come across for a day from St. Andrews, and we’ll probably try to arrange two talks on the same day, if that’s okay with you.
Very best regards,
Andrew
Visitors:
======
Stephan Langer (University of Pittsburgh) May 20th-23rd: Dynamics with cold atoms in optical lattices, many-body decoherence, heating, and state preparation
David Pekker (Ass. Prof, University of Pittsburgh) June 16th-20th: Many-body localisation, Higgs Boson in cold atoms
Gangqiang Liu (University of Pittsburgh, Experimentalist in Snoke group) June 18th-20th: Polariton condensates in a Ring Trap
Jonathan Keeling (St. Andrews) will come one day from June 19th-20th, to coincide with Gangqiang’s talk: Polariton condensates.
