Subject: QuAMP Summer School, 15-18 Sept, JQC Durham-Newcastle

We invite research students and post-doctoral researchers to attend the QuAMP Summer School (quamp2014.iopconfs.org), 15-18th September, hosted by the Joint Quantum Centre Durham-Newcastle (www.jqc.org.uk).
Leading national and international researchers will present tutorials and seminars across quantum, atomic, molecular and plasma physics. We are particularly delighted to announce that Nobel Laureate Bill Phillips will attend the school and present the plenary session. The level of the lectures will be aimed at graduate students and young post-docs. More details, including the full list of speakers and the preliminary programme, can be found on the QuAMP website (quamp2014.iopconfs.org/). Participants are invited to stay on for the morning of Friday 19th September to attend a mini-symposium of JQC research. This will be at no additional cost.

The majority of the scientific programme will be held on the Science Site of Durham University, with accommodation provided a short walk away at Collingwood College. On the Wednesday afternoon, delegates will be transported to Newcastle for an afternoon excursion, followed by the plenary session of Bill Phillips at Newcastle University, and finally a conference dinner at the Great North Museum, amongst a back-drop of dinosaurs and local artefacts.

Abstracts should be submitted online
http://quamp2014.iopconfs.org/215002) by 23rd June 2014. A selection of participants will be invited to present a short talk; all other
delegates are encouraged to present a poster. Registration will be
available shortly, with a final deadline of 5th September 2014. The
registration cost will be announced later this summer but please note that the event is heavily subsidized by our sponsors and the fee will be kept as low as possible.

The event is sponsors by the IOP Atomic and Molecular Interactions, Molecular Physics, Plasma Physics, Quantum Electronics and Photonics and Quantum Optics, Quantum Information and Quantum Control Groups, Newcastle University, Durham University and the COHERENCE Marie Curie Initial Training Network.

We hope to see you at the JQC.

Nick Parker and Kevin Weatherill (QuAMP Local Chairs)
