Dear All
Just a reminder that the ADR process must be completed by the end of July.
The final forms must be signed off by Erling Riis for all Physics staff and Keith Mathieson for all IOP staff.
For Physics staff, please ensure that the final forms are submitted to Erling by 24th July at the very latest.
Many thanks.
Catherine

Subject: [all-staff] Message from the Principal : Launch of this year's ADR process
Sent on behalf of the Principal
Dear Colleagues,
I am e-mailing to confirm that the ADR process for 2015 has now commenced.
The ADR process is critical to our continued success as a leading international technological University. It has my full commitment because of the significant organisational and personal benefits which come from staff having clear feedback on their performance and a constructive and supportive dialogue with a reviewing officer.
The undernoted details from the Director of HR should be noted carefully. I would ask each of you to ensure that you complete your ADR discussion, with associated documentation, within the timeline indicated. Whilst the ADR form is important and must be fully completed by all University staff, the one-to-one discussion is most critical and the forms should be concise and focused. The timetable below has started with my own ADR discussion, emphasising my personal commitment to the process and the importance of ADR as a strategic tool for the cascading of organisational objectives.
Best wishes,
Jim

Message from Sandra Heidinger, Director of Human Resources
I am pleased to confirm the launch of this year's ADR process. This year, your ADR discussion will look back over the period since August 2014 with forward objectives then being set to cover 1st August 2015 - 31st July 2016.
The ADR process has three parts, focussed around a discussion between each member of staff and an appropriate reviewer:-
* a look back at performance during the previous year, focusing on objectives set as part of last year's discussion;
* setting of objectives for the forthcoming year (covering 1st August 2015 - 31st July 2016);
* discussion about any development needs linked to those objectives.
A range of ADR supporting documentation<http://www.strath.ac.uk/hr/adr/> is available on the HR website. As well as comprehensive guidance documents available to download there are summary webpages available for those looking for a reminder of the process.
In advance of a forthcoming meeting with your Reviewer, you should draft your ADR form accessed through PEGASUS<https://ben.mis.strath.ac.uk/login/> (click on the Human Resources tab then on 2014 Review Period). Your one-to-one discussion with your reviewer will start with a look back over the period since August 2014; objectives set last year will be brought forward automatically into your new form and you should comment on progress against each objective prior to your review discussion.
ADR discussions for all staff will take place during April, May and June and early July, with all forms requiring to be fully concluded by the end of July. The undernoted timetable has been developed, commencing with the Principal to ensure that ADR enables the cascading of our strategic objectives:
Reviewee(s)
Reviewer
Deadline
Principal
Convenor of Court
17 April 2015
Executive Team Members
Principal
1 May 2015
Heads of Department/School, Vice Deans
Executive Team Members
29 May 2015
Professors*
Heads of Department/School or nominees
26 June 2015
All Other Staff
Line Manager or nominees of Heads of Department/School/Director
31 July 2015
* Professorial staff should note the full timetable and policy<http://www.strath.ac.uk/hr/policiesandprocedures/sard/> for the Senior Academic Review and Development (SARD) process.
Whilst no specific University level timetable has been set for staff below professorial level, each Head of Department/School will establish their own timetable in keeping with the overall deadline of 31 July 2015. The ADRs of more senior staff with management responsibilities will be conducted first with the ADRs of direct reports to these individuals carried out next and so on. Heads of Department/School will inform you of the timetable which will apply within your area but you should aim to draft your ADR form and to send it to your reviewer a week before the scheduled one-to-one meeting. In order to complete the online form, you will need to know who will be conducting the review discussion with you. This information may already be known to you but, if you are unsure, please ask your Head of Department/School to confirm who will be your reviewer for the ADR process.
Academic and Research staff who use PURE do not need to re-enter data held in PURE to the ADR system. Rather, individual PURE users can create a 'summary report' from PURE which pulls out their data for the year and this document can be uploaded to the ADR system as an attachment. Your comments on contribution and achievement since August 2014 will then be a short commentary on the PURE information, rather than a record of the activity itself.
Training on ADR for both staff members and reviewers remains available and can be accessed via the online booking service<http://bookings.strath.ac.uk/> or via the Organisational and Staff Development Unit on extension 4332.
For further information on ADR, please contact the HR Team for your area.
Best wishes
Sandra
