Dear colleagues
As you will no doubt realise, the electronics workshop has seen a significant reduction in staff in recent years. At the same time the quantity and complexity of job requests has continued to increase. This is a major problem that has reached a point that we now have to look at changing access arrangements in order to help the guys manage their workload.
Up till now we have all enjoyed unrestricted access to the wealth of experience and good advice that Mark, Ged and Ken provide. However, this means that they are constantly being interrupted and distracted from jobs causing delays and further stress.
From this point forward, access to the workshop for general advice and consultation is restricted to 10.30 - 11.30 each day.
You are strongly encouraged to arrange appointments with Mark Hutcheon for advice on specific jobs. Mark will bring in Ged and Ken for further support as required.
The electronics store will remain accessible all day but you are kindly asked to respect the fact that the guys are working extremely hard and refrain from unnecessary interruptions outside the open consultation period.
This new arrangement applies to ALL staff without exception. Please feel free to contact either myself or Erling if you have a major problem with this. We greatly appreciate your assistance with this and hope that this change in operation will result in improved working conditions for the guys and smoother operation of the workshop, to everyone's benefit.
Regards
David
