FYI
If you have long-running login sessions to servers, please consider using the screen command in Linux so that your SSH session can be disconnected without losing the jobs running under it.

Subject: [announce] Data Comms Network Disruption
John Anderson Building
Please note that in order to carry out essential electrical safety tests on networking equipment, there will be some disruption to all data comms networks within the above buildings/areas during the weekend 6/7th August 2016.
The work will be performed one support area at a time, so any particular part of the network should expect to see one or two breaks in service of up to one - two hours.
However all network services in these areas should be regarded as being "at-risk" for the entire weekend.
If there are any queries or issues regarding this maintenance, please contact Paul Smedmor or Dom O'Donnell at extension number 3139
