Hi All,

I’ve been asked by a friend who is involved in the Loncon 3 organisation to forward information on a unique opportunity for PGR students (or research staff) to present their work to an interested lay audience.

Loncon 3 is the 72nd World Science Fiction Convention, and this year takes place in London (mainly it’s in the US, so having it in the UK is quite rare). They’re keen to showcase real world academic research and are having a poster session in their exhibition space. The details are at http://loncon3.org/poster_sessions.php

If anyone is interested in having their work considered, they should in the first instance send either a draft poster or a moderately detailed abstract to Dr Jackson at the address above. The deadline is nominally 1 April but I don't think they're going to be very strict about it. Note that you could ‘recycle’ an existing poster, provided it is accessible to a non-specialist audience - something from the University Research Day for example.
