Dear PhDs and Post Docs in SUPA

In response to your feedback, I am pleased to invite you to the 2014
SUPA Graduate School Careers Event on Thursday 15th May from 10.00 to
14.00 in the Glasgow Science Centre.

The 2014 SUPA Graduate School Careers Event is a unique opportunity for
PhD students
<http://my.supa.ac.uk/mod/wiki/view.php?wid=85&userid=0&groupid=0&page=Students>
and Post Doctoral researchers to engage with Early Career Researchers
<http://my.supa.ac.uk/mod/wiki/view.php?wid=85&userid=0&groupid=0&page=Early%20career%20researchers>
who have made the transition from academia to industry. At the event,
the speakers will briefly introduce themselves before participating in
round table discussions. Companies and organisations will be
represented with stands to exhibit and network during lunch. There will
be a CV clinic led by the IoP Careers Manager Vishanti Fox, supported by
university careers specialists.

This event showcases a wide range of career paths that I know from years
of experience are popular with physics PhDs and Post Docs, including:
IoP Publishing, Thales, Selex, DNV GL – Energy, ThinkTank Maths,
Harrison Goddard Foote LLP (patent attorney), Jumpstart, Freescale
Semiconductors, NNL, the Met Office, Medical Physics and M Squared
Lasers - a range of large companies, SMEs, government agencies and
public sector employers; many wanting to recruit clever people just like
you. For a full-list of speakers please follow the link:

This is a highly interactive fact finding event and an opportunity to
find out about the career opportunities that are open to you outside
academia. No matter what your ambition, I’m sure this event will help
to inform your career decisions and show you what’s possible for your
future career.
