Subject: Disabilty Service Non-Medical Personal Helper Recruitment

Dear All,

We are in the process of recruiting for our pool of non-medical personal helpers to undertake various support roles for students with disabilities during the 2014-2015 academic cycle. Each year we experience difficulties recruiting a sufficient number of suitable candidates from the Faculty of Science. I am contacting you to seek your assistance in promoting the roles to students and colleagues within your department.

The following roles are open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students:

  * Personal Support Assistant £10 an hour
  *   Note-taker £10 an hour
  * Practical Lab Assistant £10 an hour

And the following are open to graduates and postgraduates only:

  * Study Support Assistant £25 an hour
  * Student Mentor £35 an hour

All of the roles are part-time and flexible to fit around study. We are particularly keen to recruit a good supply of lab assistants, note-takers, study support assistants and student mentors from your faculty.

Where possible, we try to match students with support workers from their faculty, therefore, it's important to have a good pool to select from.

Further particulars and application packs are available from the Disability Service disabilityservice at strath.ac.uk<mailto:disabilityservice at strath.ac.uk> or 0141-5483402. Potential applicants can also direct queries to Kirsty Reid, Disability Assistant, kirsty.reid at strath.ac.uk<mailto:kirsty.reid at strath.ac.uk> or 0141-5483402. The closing date for applications is 30th May 2014.

I would be most grateful of your assistance in circulating this within your department and, particularly, targeting it at students you think may be suitable for the roles.

Best wishes,

Ann
