Dear All,

The University of Strathclyde together with the Universities of Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen secured Horizon 2020 funding to deliver Explorathon http://www.explorathon.co.uk/glasgow bringing research to the public. Between 12 noon and 11pm on Friday 26th September, the four Universities are hosting events to attract thousands of people to meet researchers.

We are coordinating events in the West of Scotland at the Glasgow Science Centre, intu Soar (formerly Xscape at Braehead) and the Mitchell Library and we are looking for volunteers to assist with the running of events on the day.

If you’re interested in volunteering there are two induction sessions to find out more about the roles we’re looking to fill and prepare you for taking part. Please email publicengagement at strath.ac.uk<mailto:publicengagement at strath.ac.uk> with an indication of which session you’d like to attend:

Thursday 11th September, 1-3pm, Glasgow Science Centre, or
Saturday 20th September, 1-3pm, Glasgow Science Centre.

Roles include:
Meet and greet attendees on arrival
Event Guides
Evaluation Team

Volunteering to be a part of this Europe-wide event will enhance your communication skills, give you experience of public engagement activity and enhance your CV. You will also receive 1 free entry to the Glasgow Science Centre.

If you would like more information on Explorathon or would like to volunteer to help out with one of the Physics based activities, for example with the 'Make a spectroscope' workshop, then please drop me c.trager-cowan at strath.ac.uk<mailto:c.trager-cowan at strath.ac.uk> an e-mail.

Thanks.

Regards,

Carol
