The Nonlinear Waves Group at The University of Balearic Islands (Palma de Mallorca, Spain) has an open position for one postdoctoral fellow, for a duration of three years, in the framework of a FET-open project recently funded named ChipAI.
The successful candidate will join an internationally recognized group of researchers active in the fields of nonlinear dynamics and modeling of photonic systems.
The research will focus on the modeling and the theoretical and numerical analysis of neuromorphic nanolasers. Within the project, the candidate will benefit from the wider international collaborations with researchers from the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory in Braga, Portugal, the Institute of Photonics and Glasgow University, in Scotland, the Technical University in Eindhoven, the IBM research center in Zurich, and IQE semiconductors in Cardiff. The applicant will also benefit as well from the ongoing collaborations of the Nonlinear Waves Group with e.g. the Institut de Physique de Nice, France, or the Center for Nonlinear Sciences, University of Muenster, Germany.
We are seeking candidates comfortable with team work and with a good level of English. The candidate should hold a PhD degree in theoretical Optics / Photonics / Quantum Optics, or in Nonlinear Dynamics. They should be comfortable with the methods and the numerical modeling of nonlinear systems and able to orient their research efforts towards the understanding of the experimental results obtained within the project.
The position is to be held in the Physics Department of the University of Balearic Islands, Palma de Mallorca.
Starting date no earlier than June 2019.
Please contact Julien Javaloyes (julien.javaloyes at uib.es<mailto:julien.javaloyes at uib.es>) for further information, or to send an application. Applications should include a CV that contains the publication list and a cover letter, both in pdf format, plus contact details of two references. Deadline for application is 15th of March 2019.
