The Department of Mathematics and Statistics is hosting a visit by WorldQuant on Wednesday 13th March 2019 at 1pm in LT908.

WorldQuant is a quantitative asset management firm founded in 2007 and currently has over 700 employees working in more than 25 offices in 15 countries. They develop and deploy systematic financial strategies across a variety of asset classes in global markets, utilizing a proprietary research platform and risk management process. They are seeking candidates with engineering, science, maths & finance backgrounds for Quantitative Finance Research Consultant opportunities.

The presentation will provide you with the opportunity to learn about:

*         The Quantitative finance and investment management industry

*         How to become a successful Quant in global financial markets

*         How to apply to be a Research Consultant

*         How to access free training classes / seminars about Quantitative finance research and modelling

*         How you can get paid as a Research Consultant

*         How to get free access to the web-based simulation system that you can use to develop quantitative models

*         An opportunity for candidates with Engineering, Science, Mathematics and Finance backgrounds to break into the Financial Industry.


The session will be led by Mandy Simmons, VRC Territory Manager, at WorldQuant UK. She will also conduct a live demonstration of WebSim, WorldQuant's proprietary web-based financial markets simulation tool and set time aside for Q&A.

This session will be of benefit to students studying a STEM, Economics, or Finance course at any stage from undergraduate to PhD. Please can you forward details of this visit as appropriate.
