Subject: Online Postgraduate Open Day - 2nd March

Hi everyone,

Hope you're all well.

I'm emailing to follow up with further details and to progress with plans for the online Postgraduate Open Day taking place on Monday 13nd March.

The event has been confirmed to take place between 10am and 1pm but we have asked this to be extended to allow some additional time between the Science presentations. As mentioned below The event will be hosted on a new online platform called On Air which is owned and facilitated by the University's Conference and Events Team. There will be technical staff from the team available to support and help on the day.

Similar to previous online postgraduate open days the event will consist of a PGT presentation from each Department and an overarching PGR presentation for the Faculty. Christine Dufes has kindly confirmed that she will deliver the Faculty PGR presentation. Christine, I will follow up with you directly regarding preferred timings.

In a change to previous online postgraduate open days, the chatroom feature will be replaced with 1 to 1 chats. The On Air platform includes an 'exhibition area' which allows for Department 'stands'. On each of these stands, there will be a mix of PGT and PGR staff and attendees can request a 1 to 1 chat. I have included the different stands below, I recommend at least 1 PGR representative is available to chat on each stand at all times. For each department, please can you confirm the names of the PGR staff who will be on these stands by end of day Monday 6th February.

As with other events we would like to include current students and initially will aim to recruit 1 PGR student per Department. Please could you go out to students and confirm the name of a student volunteer and I will follow up with them regarding right to work checks and payment. The volunteers will be paid the student ambassador rate of £10.90 an hour. Alternatively, if you would like me to approach our current PGR Unibuddies or previous PGR volunteers, just let me know.

Exhibition stands (each manned by 2-3 PGT staff members, 1 PGR staff member, 1 PGT student and 1 PGR student)

  *   Mathematics & Statistics
  *   Computer & Information Sciences
  * Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy & Biomedical Sciences
  *   Physics
  *   Forensic Science
  * Postgraduate Taught/Masters Admissions (manned by members of the PGT Admissions Team)

There will be training sessions running on the 27th and 28th February (times tbc) for anyone taking part in the event and I will follow up with further information once the presentation times have been confirmed. In the meantime, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you

Juliette
