[Laptop user]Information Services will conduct essential maintenance on the wireless service to patch security issues, fix bugs and introduce new features on Friday 25 August.
This will result in all wireless services (eduroam, Wifi Guest, TIC-Conferencing, AFRC Visitor, Strath-iot, Strath-iot-stu) being unavailable for periods of time during that day, and should be considered at risk between 8am and 4pm.

An impressive new mural on the wall of University Centre had a starring role during the recent UCI Cycling Championships.
The artwork is the latest of a series of murals designed and installed by care-experienced young people across Scotland.
The Widening Access team is currently recruiting staff volunteers to mentor incoming care-experienced students, and a small number of student asylum seekers for the September 2023 intake.

Cyclist scoops silver medal in UCI World Championships Men’s madison event
[Strathclyde student Mark Stewart scooped a silver medal in day six of the UCI Cycling World Championships]
Strathclyde student Mark Stewart (pictured left) scooped a silver medal in day six of the UCI Cycling World Championships in the Men’s madison event, while several other students and graduates have been competing in the Netball World Cup.
Mark, who is studying Sport & Physical Activity, and teammate Oliver Wood claimed second place in the race at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow.

This summer, several members of the Sustainable Strathclyde team attended the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC) Conference in Bath.
The theme for this year's conference was ‘Conversations on Climate Solutions’ and Sustainability Engagement Officer Emma Carroll-Monteil was determined to find the most sustainable way to get Somerset from Glasgow.
She tells us how travelling by sleeper train, and taking advantage of Strathclyde's sustainability-focused expenses policy, was far more environmentally friendly – a carbon footprint nearly 90% lower than flying − efficient and comfortable compared to other methods of transportation.

Innovative technology, produced in research involving the University of Strathclyde, can arrange human cells into extremely thin layers could boost the development of lifelike layered human tissue, such as blood vessels, in the lab.
The technique enables the construction of separate cell layers down to one cell thick. Experts believe this level of detail is crucial to developing accurate models of layered human tissue for use in research.

The University of Strathclyde has been awarded funding from the UK Space Agency to develop AI technologies that will enhance space safety and sustainability.
The money was awarded under the first phase of the UK Space Agency’s £20 million International Bilateral Fund investments, which is aimed at helping British organisations link up with the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, India, Singapore, South Africa and more to form collaborations that will progress space research and catalyse investment in new technologies.

[Environmental icon]Active citizenship means people getting involved in their communities and democracy at all levels from local to national and global.
The Centre for Sustainable Development, in collaboration with Student Union and Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship, is offering a round of training workshops for shaping the capabilities of future trainers on active citizenship.
