Hi all,
Following on from my previous email, we’ve now finalised plans for the Photonics Online Meetup (POM).
On the 13th and 14th of November 2023, the Strathclyde Student Community for Optics Physics & Engineering (SCOPE) will be livestreaming parts of the Photonics Online Meetup in the Royal College Building (RC215). Staff and Students are welcome to join for part of or for the whole day.
The event will take place on the 13th November from 2:30pm - 6:30pm and on the 14th from 2:30pm - 7:30pm. On both days:
* At 2:30pm, we will have a brief introduction about SCOPE and what we do.
* At 2:45pm, there will be an interval for any prospective members to sign up and ask questions.
* And at 3:00pm, we will join the livestream.
(Please note that after 5pm, the side entrance to the Royal College is closed so if you intend on joining after that time, you will need to enter through the James Weir Building.)
As a reminder, “POM is an entirely free virtual conference geared towards bringing together a community of early career and established researchers from universities, industry, and government to amplify the role of optics and photonics in daily life,” with a focus on four key areas:
• Biomedical Imaging Technologies
• Smart Data-Driven Imaging
• Light-Assisted Microfabrication
• Hot Topics.
The full list of talks taking place at the POM event can be found here<http://photonicsonlinemeetup.org/events/pom23/> with a rough timetable of when certain events will start in the timetable attached.
Food and (soft) drinks will be provided during the event. After the event on the 14th, all attendees and members are welcome to join the committee at the Student Union for a short social.
While registration is not required, if you’re interested please sign up via our Eventbrite<https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/scope-presents-photonics-online-meetup-tickets-747258017847?aff=oddtdtcreator>.
All the best,
Iain MacCuish
